A new monthly night for lovers of all things literary kicked off with the launch of 'Kill Your Darlings' at The Cube in Bristol. The event is the love child of self-proclaimed 'word idiot' Byron Vincent, award-winning novelists Nathan Filer, Chelsey Flood and Nikesh Shukla, comedian Tom Clutterbuck and Radio 4-endorsed writer and performer Molly Naylor.
Following last month’s shock resignation of long-standing ‘Blahblahblah’ compere, Byron Vincent, July’s instalment saw the flame-haired Anna Freeman assume hosting duties as his successor.
On vacation from its usual setting of the Bristol Old Vic's basement theatre, the August edition of spoken word entertainment in the West Country took its summer retreat aboard the Grain Barge in Hotwells. Descending into the bowels of the creaking vessel on Monday evening, I perched myself starboard side and settled in for what promised to be yet another night of dazzling wordplay from the well-established 'Word of Mouth' collective.
